Get involved in the next wave of research. We want to hear from you!
Bragato Research Institute is hosting winemakers' workshops to help inform the next wave of wine science research. We encourage winemakers to come along and share any ideas, concerns, or challenges in winemaking. More opportunities will be made for other regions throughout the year.
The Waiheke Workshop is on Monday 08 May, and we're delighted to have Dr Andrew Waterhouse in attendance. In addition to the group discussion, there will be a research presentation and tasting led by Villa Maria Winemaker Gianni Flego on Merlot.
This workshop is free to attend and will include an afternoon tea.

Gianni Flego
Winemaker, Villa Maria
After living in Europe and working in the hospitality industry, Gianni developed an interest in winemaking and decided to study full-time. On graduating from Lincoln University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology degree he joined Villa Maria Estate on the Winemaking Cadetship scheme. He is now a winemaker based at the Villa Maria Auckland winery for most of the year and in Hawke's Bay at the Villa Maria Gimblett Gravels winery for harvest. As well as being focused on winemaking activities he supports a wide area of the operation from viticulture systems support to bottling, traceability, continuous improvement and systems integration across the wider company.
