Caythorpe is a fifth-generation, 100% family-owned farm, orchard and winery located in the heart of the Marlborough winegrowing region. The property was settled in 1880 by immigrant David Bishell and named after his home village "Caythorpe" in England.
145 years later, Caythorpe is a diverse farming business worked by David's direct descendants Scott and Simon Bishell. We are not just another winery! Our land use is a mixture of cattle and sheep, hay, orchard fruit production as well as winegrowing. We love farming, working the land as a family and growing premium food crops. We are also champions of sustainability and integrating technology into our farming practices.
Caythorpe Family Estate was launched in 2015 as a platform to market wines that have been wholly grown on the farm under the care of viticulturist and owner Simon Bishell. Our wines are estate grown, single vineyard examples of quintessential Marlborough varietals. We don't have multiple brands or quality tiers. We simply concentrate on making the best wines under our single brand of Caythorpe Family Estate.
