Nestled under the southern foothills of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, Clos Henri is the wine estate meticulously established and organically run by the famous Sancerre wine growing family of Henri Bourgeois. Gathering 10 generations of know-how with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, the family have broadened their horizons and continue to craft exceptional wines in New Zealand. From the three different soil types of the estate, the family uses the best of French and New World winegrowing techniques to capture the essence of Marlborough’s intense character and reveal the identity of the Clos Henri terroir.

The icon of Clos Henri Vineyard and the heart of our estate, Sainte Solange Chapel acts as our Tasting Room, providing visitors with a quaint setting for wine and food experiences, local events and weddings. Our Tasting Room is open from the 1st October to 30th April, Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. If you wish to have a deeper understanding of our terroir and philosophy, we also offer private wine tours. Sancerre to Marlborough

Come along for the journey as we share the story of our wine provenance through a unique tasting experience.

Established by the famous Bourgeois Family of Sancerre, Clos Henri shares many traditions and winegrowing perspectives with our founders. However, thanks to the differing nature of our respective terroirs and climates, the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noirs are very different between Marlborough and Sancerre.

The Bourgeois Family have been crafting extraordinary wines of provenance for over 200 years, often working with parcels of vines that are over 80 years old. We are lucky enough to be able to bring some of these special, and often rarely seen, wines into New Zealand.

During our unique Sancerre tasting, discover the passion of a family committed to interpreting place and character using terroir and precise winemaking practices. We will take you through a Sancerre-specific tasting to discover the best wines on offer from the Henri Bourgeois portfolio.
