A fourth-generation farmer, horticulturist and conservationist, Denis Marshall and his partner Ulrike Kurenbach create Central Otago Wines with integrity and charm.
The vineyard is named after Denis’s ancestor, naturalist William Swainson. He settled in New Zealand 1841 and named his homestead ‘Hawkshead’. William Swainson’s beautiful bird drawings grace now the Hawkshead wine labels.
‘Hawkshead’ creates Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Rosé with Central Otago intensity and clarity.
