Founded in 1864 by Frenchman Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo Winery is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Settling in the Alexandra Basin, Féraud knew his property had enormous potential for vine growing, but he had no idea of the impact his discovery would have on a celebrated wine-growing region 150 years on.
Today, Stanley Paris and sons Nicholas and Alan, the present custodians of Monte Christo Winery, pay tribute to this rich heritage, striving to produce some of the world's most distinguished Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
CELLAR DOOR - EAT - STAY
The meticulously restored heritage building serves as our cellar door, where guests are invited to indulge in wine tastings, private educational wine experiences & tours with a dedicated host. We also have an underground wine cellar, offering a unique space for hosting intimate wine tastings, dinners and private events. In 2025, we will open our production winery facility onsite, with a heavy focus on wine education.
“Fritzy” our beloved food trailer is just across the garden courtyard, serving up delicious pizzas, toasted sandwiches & platters to enjoy with a glass of wine.
Be our guest! Our three beautifully appointed guest cottages are a stone’s throw from the cellar door & food trailer. With flexible room arrangements, the cottages offer the perfect retreat for couples, friends, and families alike.
