Established in 1896, Te Mata Estate remains family owned, producing internationally recognized wines exclusively from its Hawkes Bay vineyards. Under the ownership of the Buck family, Te Mata Estate has grown over 40 years and produce a stunning array of red and white wines. Their wines are known and respected globally, including Coleraine, Awatea, Bullnose, Elston, Cape Crest , Zara and, in 2019, introducing Alma Pinot Noir. Te Mata Estate also produces an Estate Vineyards label, a collection of five varietally designated wines; Merlot/Cabernets, Syrah, Gamay Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and, in 2019, Pinot Noir.

    Explore Te Mata’s fascinating history as New Zealand’s oldest commercial winery, established in 1896. This guided tour includes a short walk to our Awatea Vineyard and discovery of our estate, including the oldest barrel hall in New Zealand, and underground cellars. This is followed by a private tasting of our internationally acclaimed Showcase wines, including our flagship wine, Coleraine.



    Maximum group size: 8 people

    Allow 2 Hours. Bookings required.

    Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10.30am or 2pm.
