Gisborne's reputation for innovation and New Zealand firsts continues with the release of The Natural Wine Company's wines. A celebration of the release of the new wine brand is being held in conjunction with The Department of Conversation and Forest & Bird at Gray's Bush Scenic Reserve, Gisborne on 14 July 2012.

What better venue for the release than Gray's Bush Scenic Reserve. A small but very significant reminder of the Kahikatea forest. Once covering the Poverty Bay flats, before it was cleared to create pastoral land. The reserve also provides a home to a diverse range of native birds.

What is The Natural Wine Company? It takes the best about everything in New Zealand and bottles it. A celebration of New Zealand and all it has to offer. Clean, green New Zealand at its very best. A big statement – Let's back it up:

(1) The wines are made from grapes grown using natural farming techniques, organic viticulture and bio-dynamic methods. The wine is low allergen – low sulphur, minimal additives.

(2) Good for the environment – The conservation message. In releasing this wine brand, we have formed a partnership with the Forest & Bird Society. Kiwis love and are proud of their natural country. Forest & Bird gives “nature a voice” - Perfect.

(3) The packaging is clean. modern and a little quirky. The lone footprint on the front reminds us all to tread gently. The Natural Wine Company font resembles drift wood. We have included a QR barcode on the label, linking customers to further information about the wines and the philosophy behind the wines.

The Natural Wine Company is a brand developed and produced by Wrights Vineyard & Winery. Wrights Vineyard & Winery has been supplying boutique wines to fine wine stores and restaurants for over 12 years. It is time to reach the average kiwi. Made in larger volume, commercial styles, this wine brand is intended for the shopping trolleys of supermarket and liquor store customers.

Sourcing grapes grown from various regions to showcase the best New Zealand has to offer. The current release in the range includes a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 and Gisborne Chardonnay Viognier 2012. The Natural Wine Company produces pure, honest, clean styles. The wines are taste explosions and express the variety and area from which the grapes are grown.
