The vineyard was established in a sustainable manner with wide rows and shelter from the strong Nor-west winds. With such old established vines we need only irrigate sparingly using gravity fed system from a dam system set up in the 1908s that supplies several other vineyards in Mackenzies Road. Our irrigation pond is a haven for birdlife and initially as part of "Greening Waipara" project the eastern end has been planted with native plants to encourage native birds. We use minimal sprays – primarily sulphur and our merinos are put to good use as ‘vineyard mowers’. The vines are hand-tended and red grapes are hand-picked, ensuring only quality grapes become our wine.
