Our forestry planting was undertaken in 1987 as an investment but also to establish effective ground cover of steep, gorse prone slopes. Our Government subsequently committed our forethought into Kyoto committment and now we are classified as a pre-1990 ETS forest with carbon sequestration vested in 60 hectares of exotic forest and 40 hectares of regenerated native forest.
